UGC (University Grants Commission) National Eligibility Test (NET)

Earlier NTA announced that the National Eligibility Test would be conducted twice a year, starting from 2018 July. They also announced that the next session of NET would take place on 2nd December 2018. There is a considerable change in the exam patterns when compared with previous years. UGC driven exams such as JRF/NET are essential for securing credible teaching jobs today. SargaKshetra conducts classes handled by experts in their respective fields and areas of specialisations. ELIGIBILITY

The candidate should have a Master’s Degree in the subject in which he/she is applying with a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/Transgender categories will get 5% relaxation (50% marks). Candidates applying for final examinations are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit

Age Limit For JRF: The maximum age limit is 30 years as on 1st December 2018. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD/Transgender candidates and candidates having research experience will get 5 years upper age relaxation. 3 years age relaxation will be given to candidates with an L.L.M degree.

For Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor Candidates.

Changes Made By NTA

This year onwards, the test will consist of 2 papers, both of them objective type- multiple choice tests. Two different sessions- One hour and Two hours each- will be there for these two different papers. Previously there were three papers.

Paper 1
Paper 1 will consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions. Each question carries two marks. These questions will be intended to check the general research/teaching aptitude of the candidate. Questions will be designed to test skills like reasoning, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. The test will be of one-hour length.

Paper 2
This test will be based on the subject selected by the candidate. There will be 100 compulsory multiple choice questions & each question will carry 2 marks. The time duration for this test will be 2 hours.
Candidates will have to mark the answers on the OMR (Optical Mark Reader) sheet provided with the question booklet.

Note: Additional 30 minutes compensatory time will be given to Differently-Abled candidates. Differently-Abled candidates with more than 40% disability will be given the assistance of a scribe.
